| Hello, My name is Alla Shubina. I’m an Online Russian Teacher and the owner this website. Here are a few facts about me:

Before moving to the USA, I was the director and owner of Novye Teknologii, Ltd., a language school
located in Alchevsk, Ukraine. From 2004 until 2010 my school had a contract with OJSC Alchevsk Iron
and Steel Works to teach English to engineers. My school also had a contract to teach English to
university teachers in 2005 and to civil servants of the Alchevsk Executive Committee in 2007.
I’ve always been interested in language acquisition, especially concerning new methods of teaching,
because I feel there are certain gaps in traditional education practices. This is what mainly spurred me on
to obtain an internationally recognized TEFL certificate through the Cambridge University CELTA
program in 2007 for teaching English as a foreign language.
I use various methods while teaching. The most essential thing is the development of practical skills,
drawing in students to participate. I try to avoid using complicated theoretical terminology and, as a rule, I
try to use actual topics which interest learners. My lessons incorporate situations from everyday life
which a learner may encounter while at work or traveling abroad. Regardless of my students' level, I
want each one to be immersed in the target language from the very beginning.
